My Journey Through Pages.

I think it would be kind of rude in some guy from Africa just launched a blog and started dishing out tips. I think he should at least introduce himself and maybe tell us why he writes in the first place.

So here it goes...

My beginning.

Here in Africa most of us started out writing in the sand with our fingers. We would spend hours and hours down there just scribbling our thoughts out. This is the reason I can't understand people who say they simply can't write. Everybody has something to write about if they only focus on what interests them. I believe that the most important thing is finding your own unique way of expressing what you are passionate about.

Fast forward a few years, my mother lifted me from the dusty East African ground and decided I was finally ready to wield a pen. I really didn’t mind this change but I noticed one thing, what I now wrote was somehow more permanent. I would do a little scribbling today, and tomorrow still find it right there on paper, unlike back when the wind would so easily blow away my writings on the sand.This went on for a while even though I was the only one who could understand what I was so busy scribbling.

School.

My mother must have gotten fed up with my illegible scribbles that she finally decided to take me to school.At school, I was taught how to hold a pen in a special way, write between the lines hoping that someone else would read in between the lines in return. But of more importance, I learned language.

With the help of English or Swahili, people could now get what I was writing. It felt good for people to finally understand what I wrote but with it came one shortcoming, no longer was I completely free. Some would have a look at my work and when it did not appeal to them, they would say it was bad. For the first time, I wasn't able to fully express myself with my own scribbles.

As years went by, I learned a lot on how I could write but still had to do it the "right way" to get points in school.I took up Business Studies, Science and even religion. All this while noticing that the more I learned, the more my writing improved but no matter how hard I tried, it only made me feel happy if I could express it in my own way. "What is my way?" I asked myself.

Freelancing Career.

After finishing school I finally decided to start something of my own. Something that would let me express my scribbles in my unique own way.I then took up some courses on the relationship between digital marketing and SEO optimization. Upon completion, I finally decided it was time to join Upwork as a blog and article writer specializing in Business articles.

I’m blessed to say that through overcoming my struggles, I have found my way of bridging the gap between business article writing and the need for humanized story telling. I want my articles to be different, not just words on pages. I want to create something engaging, something so fresh you could smell it through your screen.

It doesn't matter if they were business articles, all I had to do is add a humanized touch to let businesses connect to their audience.
