Getting Into GSOC 2018 with LibreHealth

Google Summer of Code is a global program focused on introducing students to open source software development. Students work on a 3 month programming project with an open source organization and get to not only broaden their programming skills but get to meet other talented skills ou there.

My motivation to participate for the GSOC can be traced back to three years ago, after I wasn’t successful at the entrance examination for the National School of Engineering. I then proceeded to apply for the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) which I got admitted into, and where I am currently studying. This is probably one of the best things that happened to. Till date I don’t regret getting into FET because of what I have achieved throughout these years.

In my first year, we were often told about GSOC open source, which drew my attention. However, I was not able to contribute as I lacked the skill set sufficient for the tasks. I took it as a motivation, and in my second taught myself Python and Javascript, alongside other languages such as PHP, java with frameworks such as flask , django, laravel and Nodejs with the goal of being able to participate in the Google Summer of Code. My motivation was boosted by Larry, when told me about how he bugged his mentor, till he was given the solution. All this effort has paid off, and I have been accepted for the GSOC.

I aim at giving LibreHealth a 100% success this year just like last year. Right now we are bonding and its quite exciting. Thank you LibreHealth, Thank you Gsoc.
