Inspired to Write

Unfortunately, I’ve not had any inspiration lately

I really enjoy writing, but I tend to write in spurts. I will get very active for a few days and then I put down my (digital) pen and paper and just walk away for a week or 20.

I started writing a book about 6 years ago. I finished the first chapter and its sat on my hard drive ignored for, well, about 6 years. I really should go back and write more on that book. It’s a Science Fiction story about a lone space pilot traversing the galaxy in his cargo vessel. It’s kind of like “The Mandalorian” except Disney beat me to the punch.

One time I got on a haiku kick. I wrote a haiku every day for 40 days. I haven’t written one since that time about 5 years ago.

I would write haiku
My prose was daily reading
But I stopped writing.

Most recently, I’ve signed on to Medium to write and I was pumping out one or two stories a week. But this is my first contribution in a couple of weeks.

I write for me. I write when I feel like it. Sometimes I write about current events that I am passionate about and sometimes I just write gibberish (sometimes in the same contribution!)

I see a lot of people that feel pressured to write and I feel sorry for them. My thought is how can one write under pressure and deliver a good product? I just don’t see it.

So if you follow me and you wonder why I haven’t written anything in a while, now you know the answer.
